Odyssey Fellowship Proposal
In case you ever wondered what I'd do with $10,000.
Background
The Odyssey Fellowship is a $10,000 fellowship that is only available to sophomores in my university's Honors program. Over the course of November 2025 - February 2026, I developed a series of documents for the fellowship centered around neurotech. These documents included the proposal, budget, personal statement, my CV, and a letter of endorsement from an organization that agreed to work with me. I was a finalist, but ultimately did not receive the fellowship. Had I received the money, I'd have used the NVIDIA Orin to develop an AI model to classify brainwave data from OpenBCI's Ultracortex and used the classifications to send commands to a robot, effectively controlling the robot with my mind.
It should be noted that the Odyssey Fellowship is technically an umbrella term covering several different scholarships the Honors program can award. I was applying for the "Class of 1954 Scholarship," which asks that the applicant designs an experience that will "offer them the opportunity to expand a world view, refine a philosophy of life, engage their curiosity, and/or investigate and join a significant intellectual conversation."
The proposal and budget can be found below. My CV/resume can be accessed through this website's navigation bar. I've opted to not provide the personal statement or letter of endorsement here.
